The Grandfathers

The National Theatre has commissioned ten plays by British and International writers, exploring stories from around the world to inspire young companies across the UK. Connections gives young theatre companies the chance to stage a brand new play, written especially for actors ahed 13-19. They also receive support at every stage of the project and advice from one of the National Theatre's directors and from the regional theatre hosting their festival - in this case, Oxford Playhouse.

For this project, Ox|Theatre|Collective aimed to inspire 13-19 year olds with new approaches to theatre making. They were working in collaboration with with Theatre Chipping Norton, as associate artists, and for gin links with Chipping Norton School. They young company member engage in a variety of disciplines encompassing the many roles within theatre. This project enabled us to offer our nine young cast members, as well as our young technical team, the opportunity to showcase their work and talents in a professional theatre setting. as well as performing the play at Theatre Chipping Norton, the show was performed at "The Oxford Playhouse" on 5th April 2012.
